The Passing of Brian Wraxall on May 11th 2012

It is with the deepest sorrow and regret that SERI announces the passing of Brian Wraxall on May 11th 2012.  He succumbed after a courageous fight with cancer.  Brian was both a brilliant scientist and a charming, charismatic gentleman; a combination of traits rarely found in today’s world.

He first made significant contributions to the founding of forensic serology in the 1960’s at the Metropolitan Police Laboratory (New Scotland Yard) in London working with Brian Culliford.  As the original founder of Serological Research Institute in 1978, he made his mark in the field of DNA and made immeasurable contributions to the scientific community.  The number of colleagues, attorneys, young scientists and even everyday folks that he took the time to educate about DNA & Serology is beyond measure.  He left his imprint on the lives of so many.

The corporation Brian built, Serological Research Institute, will continue to live on, thrive and serve the forensic and criminal justice community.  We are strong, capable and optimistic because he taught us by example.  He will forever be missed by everyone that ever had the honor of knowing him.  His legacy will live on through SERI.
